Estampas del Laberinto / Vignettes of the Labyrinth

Para la "Duendes" realicé hace un tiempo estas ocho "estampas" del Laberinto, aquel que cartografiamos con Eduardo Mazzitelli hace muchos años, y al que volvimos en "Shankar". Cada página, un instante, un misterio, sin explicaciones, sin sentido aparente, indescifrable y enigmático como un sueño. Como todo en ese lugar.

For "Duendes", I did some time ago these eight vignettes of the Labbyrinth, the one we mapped with Eduardo Mazzitelli in the dim past, and to which we returned, briefly, in "Shankar". Each page, an instant, a mystery, with no explanation, with no rhyme, no reason, undecipherable and clueless as a dream, as everything in that place.

Dioses y demonios/ Gods and demons (1)

En "Dioses y Demonios", que editara Belerofonte, recopilábamos ocho relatos de los "mitos" acuñados por Eduardo y yo, donde repasábamos panteones, cosmogonías, deidades y héroes de una tierra de Nunca Jamás- Pero hay más, como éste, de fríos mares antediluvianos, de cetáceos místicos y leviatanes cantores. Los mitos nunca terminan.

In "Gods and Demons", which Belerofonte published some years ago, we showcased eight tales, which referred to the "myths" Eduardo and I had concocted. Pantheons, cosmogonies, deities and heroes of a Neverland of our own making. But there are more tales, like this one, of old antediluvian seas, of mystical cetaeans and singing leviathans. Myths never end.

Shankar en París / Shankar in Paris

Shankar en París... Y las grandes sombras tutelares de Hugo, Dumas, Lautrec presiden la fantasmagoría. Los Jorobados ( sí, en nuestra historia son muchos, oteando la distancia entre las igualmente vigilantes gárgolas) de los campanarios, el Hombre que Ríe ( que inmediatamente remite a Conrad Veidt en el inolvidable filme, que inevitablemente remite a uno de los más logrados villanos del cómic), Madame Guillotine recorriendo adusta los grises callejones, Cyrano, el subterráneo Fantasma organista, las catacumbas, el Hombre de la Máscara de Hierro, y los duelos de esgrima en los puentes sobre el Sena.
Shankar in Paris... And the great tutelary shades of Hugo, Dumas, Lautrec, preside the phantasmagoria. The Hunchbacked Bellmen ( yes, in our story there is more tnan one, looking upon the city down below among the equally vigilant gargoyles); the Man who Laughs ( who immediately conjures Conrad Veidt´s grimace in the unforgettable film, and inevitably brings to mind one of the greatest comic-book villains ever); Madame Guillotine stalking the grey alleys; Cyrano, the subterranean and organ-playing Phantom, the catacombs, the Man in the Iron Mask, and the sword duels on the bridges over the Seine.
