Otra vez escuchamos a Scheherezade contando laberínticos relatos al rey en la noche... Y otra vez recurrimos a la fascinante imaginería islámica para poblar las páginas de seres prodigiosos, algunos atroces, como los Ifrits y Djinns, que ya habíamos visto por aquí, sobrevolando el desierto en remolinos de polvo y arena, y otros sublimes, como los ángeles. Entre ellos, me cautiva especialmente el que figura en las dos primeras imágenes. Es Al Buraq, en dos versiones, con su cuerpo de mula y sus plumas de pavo real, que según la tradición llevó sobre su lomo al Profeta desde Jerusalén al cielo

Again we listen to Scheherezad telling the king labyrinthine stories in the night... And again we turn to the fascinating Islamic imagery for wondrous beings, some of them atrocious, like the Ifrits and Djinns, who we have already seen before in this blog, flying over the desert in whirlwinds of dust and sand, and others sublime, like the Angels. Among these, I'm specially captivated by the one featured in the first two images, Al Buraq, in two different versions, with the body of a mule and the feathers of a peacock. He was the one that carried the Prophet on his back , from Jerusalem to Heaven.
