1002, 1003... (3)

.

Again we listen to Scheherezad telling the king labyrinthine stories in the night... And again we turn to the fascinating Islamic imagery for wondrous beings, some of them atrocious, like the Ifrits and Djinns, who we have already seen before in this blog, flying over the desert in whirlwinds of dust and sand, and others sublime, like the Angels. Among these, I'm specially captivated by the one featured in the first two images, Al Buraq, in two different versions, with the body of a mule and the feathers of a peacock. He was the one that carried the Prophet on his back , from Jerusalem to Heaven.

    Garcias!

  5. I like Arabic and Persian immaginary very mutch, because I grew up with Harryhausen's Sinbad.

PS Will you publish someones of your comics in Italy? The next time I see a work of you in my country is some years ago

    Gracias, Bistiarj.
Paolo: My work is periodically published in Italy. Sooner or later you will come across it. And I share your admiration for Ray Harryhausen's work, and the first two Sinbad movies in particular. I can´t help thinking that all the modern breakthroughs in computerizd animation and special effects, no matter how slick and technically astounding, fail to reproduce the charm and magic of Harryhausen's stop motion milestones.
